What Aquablation costs,
answered straight

Aquablation is hospital-based surgery, and it is covered by Medicare and most PPO and commercial plans on the same basis as TURP: documented BPH that merits surgical treatment. Here is what actually shows up on the bill and what decides your share, verified against your plan before anything is scheduled.

How coverage works

Surgical billing has more moving parts than office procedures; coverage handles most of them the same way it always has for prostate surgery.

01

Medicare

Covers Aquablation like other medically necessary prostate surgery. Hospital charges fall under your Part A and B structure, and supplements do their usual work on the remainder.

02

PPO and commercial plans

Most plans cover Aquablation as they do TURP, typically with prior authorization, which the office manages with the hospital.

03

What the bill contains

Surgeon, anesthesia, one hospital night, and the robotic suite. It is a real surgical bill, and insurance treats it as one, which is why verification up front matters.

Common questions about Aquablation costs

Does Medicare cover Aquablation

Yes, on the same medical-necessity basis as TURP. Your hospital and physician shares follow your normal Medicare structure, and a supplement typically absorbs most of the coinsurance.

Is Aquablation more expensive than TURP for me

Usually comparable from the patient side, since both are covered hospital surgeries under the same benefit design. The difference you feel is clinical, not financial: better odds of preserving ejaculation.

Is there a cheaper path than surgery

Often, yes. PAE happens in the practice's own outpatient lab with no hospital admission, which structurally shrinks the bill. Whether it fits your anatomy is what the consultation determines.
